Ballou, Schatz Winners At Eldora Double Night 1

ROSSBURG, OHIO -RIS- It is billed as the as the “Mother Of All Sprint Car Weekends” and it started with wins for Robert Ballou and Donny Schatz in the USAC National and World of Outlaws 30 lap Friday features.

The USAC events lead the schedule with Robert Ballou qualifying sixth and stating on the outside first row, next to Jon Stanbrough. Ballou took the lead at the start and went on to win his fourth feature in 2015 leading wire-to-wire. Stanbrough chased Ballou through the whole race but was never able to launch a serious attack

Bell, Abreu Leave Turkey Night On Top

PERRIS,CA -RIS- Christopher Bell came to the 74th Turkey Night Grand Prix trailing Rico Abreu for the USAC Honda National Title by 26 points. Bell won the 98 lap feature and 'Kissed the Hat' as has become the custom since the trophy featuring the late JC Agajanian's hat was created. But Rico had a good night too and won the 2014 title by ten points after a fifth place finish.

JoJo Helberg Dominant Despite Official SNAFU

IRWINDALE, CA -RIS- Jo Jo Helberg had everything going his way as he set quick time at a new track record, 13.791; 130.520 mph, won the trophy dash and the feature in the “King of the Wing” winged sprintcar event.

Ballou Sweeps 2014 Oval Nationals

PERRIS, CA -RIS- It was a 'first' in the 19 year “Budweiser Oval Nationals” as Robert Ballou swept all the 410 sprintcar features at Perris Auto Speedway.

It was Roberts fourth USAC National feature win of the year and maybe the two biggest nights of his career as he took 20 thousand dollars for the championship to add to the five thousand he won in the Friday preliminary feature. Rockland California is where Ballou calls home and winning in his home state was also a big bonus.

Ballou Goes Non-Stop To Win Oval Nationals Prelim

PERRIS, CA -RIS- Friday Night was the second night of the 2014 “Budweiser Oval Nationals” but the first for the USAC National Series traditional 410 sprintcars. With 55 cars qualifying it was becoming a long night as five cars flipped including Damion Gardner getting stuck on the fence during his heat. The Feature did not get started until 11 pm. Robert Ballou won the 30 lap Feature leading 20 laps in a race that was caution free and over in 9:24.75!

Leary Opens 2014 Oval Nationals With 360 Win

Forty Six drivers were at Perris Perris Auto Speedway for the opening night of “The Budweiser Oval Nationals” for sprint cars. Opening night was limited to 360 CID cars and featured many drivers from the USAC National Sprintcar series as well as drivers from the numerous 360 series in the southwest. When the results were in it was the National Series had shown their skills as C. J. Leary and Bryan Clauson fought it out for the $2,500 winner's purse.

Lenny White Wins First Super Late Race and Championship @ Irwindale

IRWINDALE, CA -RIS- It was “The Night of Champions” on the final night of stock car competition of 2014 at Irwindale. In the top class, the Super Late Models the racing was as close as it could be during the fifty lap event with Jason Patison leading most of the way. Patison started the race in a tie with Tony McCray for the season title but his main rivals were third place Linny White and fourth place Jack Madrid. Patison took the lead when White went off line on the first lap and held it. White and Madrid kept at his heels the whole time.

Just back from Bonneville where he strengthened his claim on the title of 'Worlds Fastest Sprint Car Driver' with 211 MPH in the “Green Demon” last Tuesday. An Emotional Night At Perris

PERRIS, CA AUG 16, 2014 -RIS- It was billed as "California Racers Hall of Fame Night" but it became tribute night to Bruce Bromme Jr. due to his August third passing. A long time crew chief and the son and grandson of legendary racers, Bruce's cars had won many CRA and SCRA championships. The most recent drivers for the team, Michael Spencer and Damion Gardner were both dedicated to racing in his honor. Richard Griffin was also there in his memory.

GAS CITY INDIANA JULY 7 2014 -RIS- The 27th edition of "Indiana Sprint Week" starts tonight in Gas City at the I-69 Speedway. Last years series champion, Bryan Clauson is back to repeat his success of last year while Dave Darland is out to add more wins to his record as the willingest driver in the series history. Seven races over ten nights at tracks from Kokomo south to the Ohio River are included with Gas City and Kokomo leading off and Lawrenceburg finishing the first 'set' of races this Sunday. Monday and Tuesday are off nights before Terre Haute and Putnamvillle lead off the final four races which include Bloomington on Friday and Haubstadt on Saturday. ISW Clauson Repeat Winner at Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, IN JULY 18, 2014 -RIS- Bryan Clauson increased his points lead over Dave Darland with his second Indiana Sprint week win of 2014 at Bloomington Speedway. After losing the lead to Darland at the start of the feature Clauson fell to third behind a surging Hunter Schuerenberg who took the lead on lap 11. As the race progressed conditions on the lower groove favored by Clauson improved and about lap 14 he took second from Darland. On lap 25 Tyler Cortney flipped in turn two and on the restart from that Clauson took the lead from Schuerenberg.

Starting on the pole, Stanbrough lead every lap on an unusually slick track which made passing nearly impossible. PERRIS, CA May 3, 2014 -RIS- It was a night to remember at the 'PAS' as Damion Gardner's winning streak came to an end and Richard Vander Weerd became the newest winner in the AMSOIL USAC/CRA SPRINT CAR Series. Gardner came in third but was moved to second as Nic Faas was moved back two places for jumping a restart late in the race. Gardner came from the back of the field and had moved up seven places in the last eight laps as he fought to keep his streak intact.

CRA Returns To Ventura

VENTURA, CA MAY 10, 2014 -RIS- Damion Gardner resumed his winning ways as the USAC/CRA series returned to Ventura Raceway for the first time since 2010. Starting on the pole after an unusually lackluster qualifying result Gardner fought with Cory Kruseman early on and with Nic Faas late in the race but lead every lap (USAC says different, I know) on the way to his fourth feature win of the 2014 season.

Ryan Partridge's Irwindale Hat Trick

IRWINDALE, CA 04/05/2014 -RIS- Ryan Partridge of Rancho Cucamonga, California had the night of his life as Irwindale Speedway opened it's 2014 regular season. Partridge started with a win in the Lucas Oil Late Models in the first of two thirty lap races. Ryan went on to win the 40 lap Irwindale Race Trucks and finished up with a late race win in the second Lucas Oil Late Model 40 lapper. The second late model race was both a crash fest and a thriller as two multi-car wrecks and attrition left five of 21 cars running at the finish. Cole Custer lead the race at the last restart but Partridge got past on the lap 25 restart.

Darland Kisses AggiePERRIS, CA -RIS- Dave Darland is now the third driver in the 73 year history of the Turkey Night Grand Prix to win on both pavement and dirt. In an exciting race he seemed to be fated to finish second until Damion Gardner lost his left rear wheel with four laps left while leading comfortably.

Faas Continues Perris Domination In Oval Nationals Opener

PERRIS, CA -RIS- “I'd rather run second tonight and win tomorrow.” said Nic Faas after his wire-to-wire victory in the first night of the 2013 Perris Oval Nationals USAC Sprint Car race. The win was Nic's fourth of the year at Perris but was special because this was a national event with all the tough guys from the midwest out to finish their season in California.

Darland Takes 2nd Oval Nationals

PERRIS, CADave Darland Celebrates his second Oval Nationals Win. Photo Ed Hollowell -RIS- Dave Darland lead all fourty laps on his way to a second Perris Budwieser Oval Nationals. Starting from the outside front row Darland took the lead from the start and held off Michael Spencer as well as Bryan Clauson to win the 40 lap feature. Clauson managed to get beside Darland late in the race but coulden't close the deal, The race was stopped once on lap 32 when Justin Grant flipped after wall contact in turn three. Clauson finished third and Spencer was fourth. More as time allows.
