Larson Dominates Bristol’s SciAps 300 Xfinity Race

(BRISTOL, TN – APRIL 12, 2025 – RIS) Kyle Larson essentially had the track to himself in the Xfinity Series SciAps 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, leading 277 laps, setting the fastest lap of the race and finishing over two seconds ahead of runner-up Carson Kvapil. 

Kyle Larson led rookie sensation Connor Zilisch to the green flag to start the SciAps 300 NASCAR Xfinity race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The ‘Last Great Colosseum’ lived up to its nickname with the action starting with caution flags for Harrison Burton and Mason Maggio when Burton’s right front tire went flat and Maggion slid up into the wall to bring out a caution on the second lap of the race. Larson and Zilisch led the restart with Allgaier jumping to the outside of Zilisch and taking second place from the teen-aged phenom and stayed just inches off of Larson’s rear bumper.

Allgaier stayed less than a second off of the rear of Larson’s car for the first 33 laps, then traffic started coming into play, with Larson moving out to almost a two-second gap before Larson started lapping traffic, getting around almost half the field in the first 50 laps of the race.

Sheldon Creed spun fairly innocuously off the front of Dean Thompson but Creed’s car got hit by Brennan Poole, eliminating two of the Dash4Cash competitors. Poole’s car lost the rear axle and the red flag stopped the race for the extensive cleanup. As an example of Larson’s speed, the ‘free pass’ recipient will be Jeb Burton, running in 14th place. 

Sam Mayer inherited the led, followed by Ryan Sieg by staying out instead of pitting during the caution when the red flag was withdrawn and held on to win the stage, followed by Sieg, Larson, Sammy Smith and Justin Allgaier after a three-lap green flag run to the end of the first stage.

With the ‘drive around’ allowing cars one lap down to get back on the lead lap, about eleven cars got back on the lead lap, with Larson leading after pit stops by the pair in front of him, Sammy Smith, Justin Allgaier, Connor Zilisch and Nick Sanchez the top five for the restart choose. Larson picked outside, flanked by Sammy Smith, with Allgaier and Sanchez on the second row.

Larson repeated his lead in the first stage, moving ahead of Allgaier by almost three-fourths of a second and nearly a full second ahead of third-place Zilisch until traffic started to play a part, letting Larson vault to a lead of over two seconds that he kept increasing, 

The second stage ended with Larson in a different Zip Code from the rest of the field, but Justin Allgaier got a better restart to jump into the lead, holding off Larson’s challenges for the lead until a light bump with 110 laps left allowed Larson to move back into the lead and immediately start opening the gap.

William Sawalich spun on lap 212 when Allgaier touched him, forcing another restart. Allgaier tried to repeat his move on Lawson from the prior restart but Larson powered into the lead from his outside lane position and again pulled ahead and steadily opened the gap over the field.

Over the final laps of the race, Larson kept the gap back to second place at about 1.2 second, traffic allowing, passing cars cleanly and swept into the final lap two seconds ahead of Carson Kvapil, who got around Allgaier for second. The win was Larson’s sixteenth and the first for crew chief Adam Wall. The top five finishers were Larson, Kvapil, Allgaier, Sammy Smith and Brandon Jones. Only twelve cars finished the race on the lead lap with Larson. Larson led 277 of the 300 laps in the race.

“Just another great car,” said Larson. When I could get the traffic, I could pick the people off.
