Hemric Wins a Martinsville Clock for First Truck Series Win as Heim’s Pains Continue

Hemric takes the checkers at Martinsville

(MARTINSVILLE, VA – MAR 28, 2025) Daniel Hemric nailed the back flip off the roof of his Gates Hydraulics Chevy after winning the Corey Heim’s heartbreak season continued at Martinsville after he led 129 laps and took the first two stages before a cut left-rear tire sent the No. 11 Toyota into a spin, dropping him to last on the lead lap approaching the choose with 28 laps left of the 200-lap race.

Corey Heim took advantage of starting on the pole to move into the lead ahead of Ty Majeski at the start of the race, opening up a gap of over a second in only five laps. Ryan Roulette spun on the front straight as Heim started to lap the No. 67 truck. Heim jumped into the lead on the restart, with Kaden Honeycutt moving ahead of Majeski to take second place, with Majeski falling to fourth. Layne Riggs spun off the nose of Connor Mosack to brin out a quick yellow flag, further scrambling the running order and first stage pit strategies.

Riggs’ team mounted fresh tires on the undamaged No. 34 truck and he used the better tires to move from about last at the restart to 20th by the end of the stage. Heim ran out his lead to nearly a second and a half to win the stage, ahead of Honeycutt, Majeski, Connor Mosack and Tanner Gray.

Heim’s lead remained unassailable as the second stage ran, the gap back to second place Kaden Honeycutt almost two seconds as the stage passed mid-point. Heim went on to sweep every lap in the second stage, followed across the line by Honeycutt, Majeski, Mosack, Daniel Hemric, Chandler Smith, Tanner Gray, William Byron, Tyler Ankrum and Lawless Alan as the top ten runners.

Heim’s No. One pit stall let him leave the pits ahead of the rest of the racers who stopped, but seven trucks stayed out, led by Rajah Caruth and Matt Crafton, dropping Heim to eighth place on the track. With the choose procedure, Heim restarted in sixth place, moving to fourth before Luke Baldwin’s spin in a stackup caused a yellow flag. During this caution, Alan Waller got out of his truck and Josh Reaume put aside his crew chief duties on the team to get in the truck and drive.

On the restart, Heim dove through the pack and into second place, Heim easily moved around Caruth and into the lead. Majeski passed for second but Heim’s lead over Majeski is over a second.

Corey Day’s inauguration into the truck series continued as he spun out of 20th as Dawson Sutton ran into him in a turn. The trucks who stayed on the track in the earlier pit cycle stopped for fresh tires, led by Rajah Caruth.

Heim led the pack as Majeski, Honeycutt and Ankrum ran three-wide for second before settling into a pattern then the 66, 77 and 44 trucks all spun, with Baldwin getting turned, then Perez de Lara and Gould spinning in the slowdown resulting.

Heim led the pack at the restart with Kaden Honeycutt on his inside, with contact between the two cutting down Heim’s left-rear tire and sending the No, 11 into a spin with Honeycutt moving into the lead, followed by Majeski.

Wood, Enfinger and Tanner Gray spun and caused another quick yellow, with Enfinger having a flat right-front tire to initiate the spin. The tenth yellow came out for contact and a spin between Honeycutt and Majeski as Majeski had wheel hop entering the first turn and washed up into Honeycutt, spinning them both and allowing Tyler Ankrum, followed by Daniel Hemric, into the front row. Ankrum won his last Truck Series race in 2018, 128 races ago.

The green flag came out with eight laps left, Ankrum and Hemric getting cleanly ahead of Jake Garcia. Hemric started looking to the insdie of Ankrum and took the lead with four laps left, moving a couple of lengths ahead of Ankrum.

I wanted to race Tyler… as clean as I could,” said Hemric after turning one of his signature victory backflips

Corey Heim commented that “I feel like we got used up a little bit. It wasn’t anything malicious,” he added about the contact that cut his left-rear tire.
