Reddick On Pole for COTA

Tyler Reddick won the pole at COTA

(AUSTIN, TX, MAR 1, 2025 – RIS) Tyler Reddick won the pole for Sunday’s Echo Park Automotive Grand Prix, setting the quickest time in qualifying of 1:38.344 at a lap speed of 88.095 on his first lap on the shorter layout used this year. Starting next to Reddick with a lap just 0.044 second slower is Bubba Wallace, with Chase Elliott, Carson Hocevar and Daniel Suarez rounding out the top five in the field.

After Alex Bowman set an early quick lap in the first practice group, Shane Van Gisbergen came out and knocked the No. 48 Chevy back to second with a lap of 1:38.855/87.401 mph, over a quarter second ahead of Bowman’s 1:39.144/87.146 effort. Teen standout Connor Zilisch put a stellar lap on the boards with his effort of 1:39.383/87.025 mph, while AJ Allmendinger and Austin Cindric filled out the top five with their early-session laps. When their session ended, the top five had not changed, with Cody Ware tailing the field, almost four seconds slower than SVG’s best time.

The second group early laps had nothing for Group One, with Ross Chastain atop that group’s chart until Kyle Larson jumped to fourth overall on the strength of a lap at 1:39.653/86.701 mph with Ross Chastain slotting in after Ty Gibbs at tenth overall.

The second round of pre-qualifying practice saw ‘SVG’ repeat his standing at the top of the chart, followed by William Byron and Carson Hocevar. Van Gisbergen’s lap of 1:38.846/87.409 mph was over a half second ahead of Byron’s, who was a further six tenths ahead of Hocevar. Ryan Blaney, Alex Bowman and Chase Elliott were all quicker than Kyle Larson’s seventh-place time, who beat out Kyle Busch, Daniel Suarez and Ross Chastain to fill out the top ten after practice two.

In the first qualifying group, AJ Allmendinger led early, with Ty Gibbs, Connor Zilisch, William Byron and Chase Briscoe the top five in the early session. Daniel Suarez then beat the ‘Dinger’ by over three-tenths of a second to take over the top position while Noah Gragson and Shane Van Gisbergen waited until later in the session to make their runs.
