Joey Logano Fastest in NASCAR Cup Series Qualifying at Sonoma

SONOMO, CA - RIS -Joey Logano won his fourth pole of 2024 in a fast run at Sonoma.  The two-time Cup champion earned his 31st pole of his career, his first since the third race of the season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and his second at Sonoma.

Reigning Cup champion Ryan Blaney, Logano’s Team Penske teammate, qualified third. Blaney was also the quickest in yesterday’s extended practice session. Tyler Reddick, a California native, will join Logano on the front row. Reddick qualified second at 97.661mph.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott was the fastest Chevrolet and will start on the outside front row with Blaney. Kyle Larson grazed the tire barrier out of turn 4 a in his first lap in the final round but was able to complete a second lap that was good enough for fifth.

William Byron, Daniel Suarez, Alex Bowman, Ross Chastain and Ty Gibbs rounded out the top 10. Byron qualified sixth at 97.518mph, Daniel Suarez qualified seventh at 97.513mph, and  Bowman qualified eighth at 97.420 mph. Ross Chastain qualified ninth at 97.390mph, and Ty Gibbs qualified 10th at 97.113mph.
