Kansas Trucks are Heim Time

(KANSAS CITY, KS – MAY 4, 2024 – RIS) Corey Heim took the Tricon Garage truck to his second victory of 2024 in the Heart of America 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway. Heim led for a total of 79 laps, heading the race on four occassions, leading the final 33 laps of the race. Nick Sanchez recovered from starting 31st after pre-race inspection woes to finish sixth. The race was slowed by only one caution other than the two stage ending periods.

Front row starter Ty Majeski suffered a flag left front tire from the start fo the race, sending him into the outside wall and to the pits after only two laps. Chase Purdy and Connor Mosack headed the restart, with Zane Smith driving into the lead inside of Purdy after just one lap. Corey Heim went on to take the first stage, followed by Zane Smith, Christian Eckes, Purdy and Kaden Honeycutt. From his race start from 31st position in the grid, Nick Sanchez raced into the top ten, racing with the trucks around him for sixth position.

Zane Smith got around Heim for the race lead, opening a gap of up to eight tenths of a second as the second stage wound down.

Christian Eckes jumped into the lead as the final stage began, with Nick Sanchez moving into the race lead in just two laps of green flag running, but Heim and then Kaden Honeycutt both got around to drop Sanchez back as he started fading back in the field.

Corey Heim headed almost the entire final stage, leading a total of 79 laps out of the 134 rounds on the way to his second win of the season and seventh of his career. Zane Smith led for 29 laps, with Christian Eckes in front for 11 laps. Eight drivers led at least one lap.
