Rowdy Ties The Onionís Win Record in Trucks at Texas

(FORT WORTH, TX – APR 12, 2024 – RIS)  Kyle Busch led 112  of the 1667 laps in matching Todd Bodine’s record of six series races. The win was the 66th win in 174 race starts for Busch in the truck series and his 20th at TMS. “They kept me honest, I’ll give them that,” said Busch after the race. Corey Heim ran second, almost challenging Busch in the closing laps to finish just 0.112 second behind the victor.

Rajah Caruth had to drop from his tenth-pace starting slot to the rear of the field after the team had to change a tire on the truck after qualifying. The first lap of the race brought out the first caution when Thad Moffitt’s truck had problems and he got clipped by Tyler Ankrum on the back straight, spinning both trucks. Memphis Villareal’s truck got taken out in the incident and Caruth’s got some slight damage as well. The restart saw Nick Sanchez take a lap to clear Christian Eckes for the lead. Caruth slid through the second turn without hitting the wall to bring out the second yellow flag in under 15 laps.

Kyle Busch took the lead just before the end of the first stage, holding through the pit stops and consistently running the quickest laps of the track. Corey Heim stormed through the top ten after the restart and challenged for the lead briefly before falling back and holding second place, just ahead of Nick Sanchez, with Christian Eckes and Taylor Gray the balance of the top five.

Busch went on to sweep the first and second stages, with Sanchez getting around Eckes for second, then Heim and Gray in fourth and fifth at the stage-ending flag.

Again at the green flag restart, Busch controlled the restart, with Eckes, Heim, Sanchez and Taylor Gray all within a second of the leader for the first few laps under the green flag.

Busch opened a lead of over three seconds on Eckes before pitting with 40 laps to run. He took on tires and fuel, exiting a lap down but moving up to second, the first car down a lap when Layne Riggs spun in the second turn, bringing out the caution with only nine trucks on the lead lap. Zane Smith held the lead but had not stopped, with Busch second ahead of Corey Heim, Taylor Gray and Christian Eckes.

With 22 laps to run, Kris Wright, Mason Massey and Stewart Friesen got involved off the second turn, causing a caution with Kyle Busch in the lead after Zane Smith pitted during the caution for Riggs’ spin.

The green flag came back out with 17 laps left but Grant Enfinger, Dean Thompson, Matt Crafton and Johnny Sauter got involved in a spin on the third turn, with Rajah Caruth finally in position to get back on the lead lap with the free pass.

Christian Eckes jumped into the lead at the restart, with Busch pursuing and sweeping into the elad after a lap, with Corey Heim following and taking second. Eckes slippedd high and lost third to Sanchez.
