Chandler Smith Holds Off Ryan Preece to Win the Truck Race at Pocono

LONG POND, PA – RIS – Chandler Smith was able to hold off Ryan Preece just long enough to win the NASCAR camping World truck race at Pocono Raceway on Saturday.  Preece was second, John Hunter Nemechek was third, Corey Heim claimed fourth and Carson Hocevar rounded out the top five.

Additionally, Grant Enfinger and Matt Crafton became the final two drivers to make the playoffs, joining Zane Smith, Chandler Smith, Nemechek, Stewart Friesen, Ben Rhodes, Christian Eckes, Ty Majeski and Carson Hocevar.

The race was marred by cautions with three coming quickly in the first stage. Most were not serious.   On lap 12, Todd Bodine was in the middle of three-wide racing when Hailie Deegan made slight contact with his right front. He spun and crashed into the outside wall, while Tyler Hill and Jack Wood crashed behind him. Wood then slid into Bodine. That wad the end of the day for Bodine in his 800th career truck race.

Stage one was won by Chandler Smith, but Zane Smith clinched the regular season championship. The second stage was relatively calm.  Chandler Smith pitted before the end giving Christian Eckes the stage win.

Smith worked his way into the lead in the final stage and was able to hold off Preece for the win. Grant Enfinger and Matt Crafton became the final two drivers to make the playoffs, joining Zane Smith, Chandler Smith, John Hunter Nemechek, Stewart Friesen, Ben Rhodes, Christian Eckes, Ty Majeski and Carson Hocevar.
