Brad Keselowski Steals Bristol when Chase Elliott and Joey Logano Wreck

BRISTOL, TN – RIS – After Brad Keselowski stepped from his No. 22 Ford Mustang, he said “I think this whole Discount Tire team is going to Las Vegas tonight.  Are they open?”  It was an apt comment since the blind draw for the pole position, and the wreck between his teammate and Chase Elliott was the reason for his victory.  Keselowski was running behind the two, pushed the gas for the final three laps and took the checkered flag.

Keselowski was in third with two to go when he lucked into his second victory in three Cup races. Logano had cleared Elliott for the lead with three laps remaining, but Elliott was stalking him while seeking his second win in three days.

Logano finished 21st and Elliott was 22nd. Logano stared Elliott down as the two climbed from their cars but Elliott never looked in his direction. After Logano had retrieved his mandatory face mask, he approached Elliott for a brief conversation.

“He wrecked me,” Logano said. “A simple apology … be a man and say ‘My bad.’ I had to force an apology, which to me is just childish.”

Elliott did take the blame after the talk.

“Awww, just going for the win,” Elliott said. “I’ll certainly take the blame. I just got loose and got into him.”

Keselowski led for a total of 115 laps overall throughout the 500-lap event. He beat Clint Bowyer to the start-finish line by .471 seconds.

Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Erik Jones completed the top five. Austin Dillon, Kurt Busch, William Byron, Christopher Bell and Bubba Wallace made up the rest of the top 10.

Ryan Blaney had a strong car early and led 60 laps but crashed while chasing teammate Keselowski for the lead in the second stage. Blaney seemed to get too high on the track, wiggled into the wall and then was hit by Ty Dillon.

Blaney went to Bristol coming off back-to-back third-place finishes but wound up last. Ryan Blaney had a strong car early and led 60 laps but crashed while chasing teammate Keselowski for the lead in the second stage. Blaney seemed to get too high on the track, wiggled into the wall and then was hit by Ty Dillon.

Keselowski, who started on the pole after a draw decided the lineup, was able to take the lead after Chase Elliott and Joey Logano made contact and hit the wall while battling out front. Logano had just taken the lead from Elliott with three laps to go. Logano ended up 21st, with Elliott 22nd.

Elliott swept both stages, which ended on Laps 125 and 250. The mini victories marked his fourth and fifth stage wins of the season. The driver of the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet gained two playoff points.
