ISW: Short Comes Back To Win Putnamville

PUTNAMVILLE, IN -RIS- Following the postponement of the fourth race of 2016 Indiana Sprint Week the fifth race at Putnamville's Lincoln Park Speedway was actually fourth. But like the events so far the results seemed a bit unlikely as Bedford's Brady Short, a driver who missed the first three races came home the winner in dominating style.

Fifty drivers were there for qualifying with first night winner Tyler Courtney taking fast time at 12.670. What was more remarkable was that Lawrenceburg winner Bryan Clauson was not among those 50 as he had elected to run in a winged race at Eldora in Ohio.

Courtney won his heat along with Thomas Meseraull, Brady Short and Robert Ballou. Courtney did not get a good start as he went over another cars wheel and spun and went to the back of the field. Chase Stockon lead the opening laps but Veteran Dave Darland took the point on lap three. Short was working his way up through the field and took the lead on lap 12. Short was well 'hooked up' and was not challenged for the final 16 laps despite two late restarts which gave Chase Stockon two shots at the lead.

It was Short's sixth Indiana Sprint week win since 2006.

Tyler Courtney went from the back of the field to finish eighth. That along with his fast time and heat win allowed him to leave with a 32 point lead over Robert Ballou while Brady Bacon and Chris Windom fell to third and fourth place.

The Indiana Sprint Week series moves to Bloomington Speedway for Friday.
