NHRA’s Pro Drivers and their team’s update from off-season. Part 3 55th NHRA Circle K Winternationals

Pomona - NHRA’s Pro Drivers and their team’s update from off-season. Part 3 55th NHRA Circle K Winternationals

Steve Torrence: “We are still running the same that we brought at Indy last year. It is running really well and it is new pipe. We left that alone. I spend most of my time hunting. Not so much with the family. I do holidays with mom and dad. Usually, my off season consists of a lot of hunting. I usually try to stay in shape. A lot of the hunts I go on include high elevation, climbing and lugging my equipment. Went to B.C. at the end of last year on a moose hunt, Mexico on a sheep hunt in a couple of weeks….” stuff.”> In May I am going back to B.C. for a grizzly and black bear hunt.”   Spencer Massey: “We are running the same car with a cool new flat black look. Schumacher Red Fuel electric product. < http://www.batterychargers.com/> We had very good runs at Palm Beach and actually went down there twice: December and then again in January. I have been coaching drivers how to drive and sign them off. I have ’71 Nova that I do bracket racing with and enjoy. I only had two weekends off. I don’t have any kids; tough for me to start a family but whether off season or in the season – this is my racing family (pointing to the car, crew and compound).

Antron Brown: “We switched to a six disc clutch and it is showing great promise. The car has turned around. It is right where we want to be. I have been at the gym a lot with my trainer keeping my body right. I was with my family for the whole month of December and spent Christmas together. Just been a normal family without having to travel. Like taking them to school and pick them up at the school bus; help my wife with dinner and not be a trapped person traveling around. The winter in Indianapolis has not been too bad so we have been able to enjoy everything around our home.”   Tony Schumacher: “The car we just made safer. Inside of the cockpit so we stay alive; protect our legs. I moved the family to Austin, Texas. It was just better for the family overall. I was in Chicago till December. It has been a lot more enjoyable with the family. When I am off, I am able to spend quality time with the family given the temperate area down there. The kids can still play sports in the winter.”
