Clauson On Top At Putnamville

Bryan Clauson with Lincoln Park Speedway Indiana Sprint Week winner's trophy.

PUTNAMVILLE, IN -RIS- After three nights of having the wind at his back it shifted Thursday night at Lincoln Park and ended Kevin Thomas Jr.'s three race winning streak. Dave Darland also suffered an ill wind as he he started a two race crashing streak. The beneficiary of all this was Bryan Clauson who drove the Tony Stewart Racing car past Chris Bell and on to victory in the fifth round of Indiana Sprint Week 2013.

Clauson started fourth in the TSR Beast sprint car and followed Christopher Bell who had gridded in second starting spot and lead the first 12 laps before Clauson took his position on lap 13 with a low pass in turn one a few laps after the race was stopped for a flip by Chase Briscoe.

Kevin Thomas Jr. had gotten off to good seventh place start when he was spun out by another car on a restart on lap six. He fought on but ended the night in 11th. Meanwhile Dave Darland was even further back but was moving up when he was taken out in turn four while fighting four forth with Brady Bacon and Richard Vander Weard. Bacon went over his left front and broke the steering and the wheel.

Jon Stanbrough made a big run that fell short at the end as he went from sixth to second before falling back to fourth at the end. Chris Bell and Brady Short finished second and third.

Sprint week is now a virtual tie with Kevin Thomas Jr. leading by eight over Jon Stanbrough and ten over Bryan Clauson.

There were fifty cars for qualifying with Thomas being fastest. Mike Terry flipped during one of two non-qualifiers races.

Indiana Sprint Week heads south to Bloomington Speedway for round six on Friday with the finale in Haubstadt Saturday.
