B.R.A.K.E.S. and Kannapolis Intimidators Celebrate Father's Day

Doug Herbert founded B.R.A.K.E.S.

(KANNAPOLIS, NC - MAY 30, 2013) At one of their home games, a special kind of “doubleheader” will take place at CMC-NorthEast Stadium in Kannapolis, NC, thanks to the combined efforts of the Kannapolis Intimidators, the Class “A” Minor League affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, and B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe).  With the purchase of a $6.00 regular admission ticket, the Intimidators will donate 50% of the ticket price to B.R.A.K.E.S., the non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization based in Charlotte, NC which offers their free, Teen Pro-Active Driving Course to young drivers between the ages of 15 and 19.The second-half of this special Father’s Day weekend “twin-bill” will feature a spectacular fireworks display immediately following the game.

“This is truly the perfect family event,” says Doug Herbert, the popular NHRA and IHRA Top Fuel veteran who created B.R.A.K.E.S. in 2008 following the devastating traffic accident which killed his two young sons, Jon and James.

Initially scheduled for mid-June, the event will be reset, thanks to Herbert's entry in the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol on June 14-16.

At the rescheduled date: “For only $6, you’ll get to see an exciting game featuring the stars of tomorrow in Major League Baseball, and then a super fireworks display you’ll never forget. And, I’ll have my 10,000-horsepower B.R.A.K.E.S. Top Fuel Dragster parked at the stadium for everyone to get a close look at. We’re looking forward to an action-packed evening at CMC-NorthEast Stadium and to give everyone a chance to support our life-saving program.”
