Parade of Power Sparks Charlotte Fall Season

NASCAR Young Guns and NHRA Veterans Launch Speedway’s Fall Season of Speed with Parade of Power, Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Noon
FREE Fan Event to Include Race Car Parade, Driver Autographs, Fan Forum and Monster Truck Rides for Children
What: NASCAR young guns Trevor Bayne, David Ragan, Reed Sorenson and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., will join NHRA veterans Doug Foley, Doug Herbert and Matt and Angie Smith, as Charlotte Motor Speedway kicks off its Fall Season of Speed with a Parade of Power at noon Tuesday, Aug. 9, on Bruton Smith Boulevard.

Vehicles representing every form of motorsports that will compete this fall at Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte will parade from Concord Mills Mall to the speedway’s Avenue of Flags on Bruton Smith Boulevard. Following the parade, drivers and Charlotte Motor Speedway officials will hold a press conference and fan forum to discuss activities surrounding the speedway’s Fall Season of Speed.

Fans in attendance will participate in a Q-and-A session with the drivers and the first 100 fans to arrive at the speedway tomorrow morning will be invited to an autograph session in the speedway ticket office following the fan forum. Children 12 and under can take a ride in a monster truck and photo opportunities will be available with the cars.

The Parade of Power will feature more than 27,000 horsepower, including NASCAR Sprint Cup Series cars, Nationwide Series cars, a Whelen Southern Modified tour car, a World of Outlaws sprint car and late model, a monster truck, an NHRA Top Fuel dragster and Funny Car, speedway Toyota Camry pace cars, a Rosenbauer fire engine and more.

David Ragan, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver of the No. 6 UPS Ford and 2011 Coke Zero 400 winner.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr., NASCAR Nationwide Series driver of the No. 6 Blackwell Angus Ford. Currently leads the NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings.
Reed Sorenson, NASCAR Nationwide Series driver of the No. 32 Dollar General Chevrolet. Currently second in the NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings.
