TANNER FOUST DRIVES FORD FIESTA TO VICTORY IN INAUGURAL RALLYCAR US RALLYCROSS EVENT
“I have gotten to drive some pretty cool events in the Ford Fiesta, but this is the most fun I have had yet in this car,” said Foust who is also running five European Rallycross events this year in the ROCKSTAR Fiesta. “This was an amazing event and hopefully the first of many US Rallycross events to come. The Fiesta was awesome and the fact that this is the actual car that I have raced in the European Rallycross events, well let’s just say this Fiesta knows its way around the track on its own and I just basically try to calm it down. This weekend really exceeded a lot of expectations for everyone involved. Then again that is really the opportunity we in RallyCar have is to help change the perception in this country of smaller cars like the Fiesta, cars that here are viewed as economy cars, but in the rest of the world are viewed as performance vehicles.”
Foust wasn’t the only Fiesta running this week in the AWD class. He was joined by Ramana Lagemann, a Super Production class driver who struck a deal with Olsbergs MSE to drive a 2008 Fiesta for the weekend. Lagemann qualified third and finished fourth in the Main event narrowly missing a podium.
“This was a great experience and a lot of fun,” said Lagemann who won three races in 2010 and finished second in the Rally American Super Production class. “The Fiesta was fantastic right out of the box and easy to drive vehicle and the Olsbergs guys really know what they are doing when they set the car up.”
Next up for the Fiesta in the RallyCar US Rallycross Championship will be Round 2 once again at New Jersey Motorsports Park, October 2-3.
