TRANS-AM Lime Rock Results

Lime Rock Park Trans Am Victory ‘Biggest Career Win’  for Dyson

A true Cinderella story unfolded on Monday at Lime Rock Park after Chris Dyson claimed the Trans Am presented by Pirelli victory in the No. 20 Plaid Ford Mustang.  Ernie Francis Jr. recovered from an early-race setback to claim a hard-fought second place result ahead of Josh Hurley to complete the podium as Trans Am returned to the traditional Memorial Day weekend event at Lime Rock Park.  Tomy Drissi  (No. 8 Godzilla King of the Monsters / Chevrolet Camaro) scored fourth at the finish, with Paul Fix (No. 4 Ave Motorsports / Ford Mustang)  crossing the line fifth.

TRANS-AM - Trans-Am to Lime Rock

Seventy years of motorsports will be represented during the Trans Am Memorial Day Classic as the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli returns to Lime Rock Park Lime Rock Park May 24-27. Trans Am will be joined by the SVRA on the weekend, making for a huge line-up of both modern and vintage race cars for a non-stop fan experience at the fast and tricky New England circuit. 

With a race on Saturday for the TA2 powered by AEM class, and then a Monday feature for the Trans Am, Super GT and GT class machines, nearly 40 cars are slated to take on the 1.53-mile track in a pair of 100-mile rounds.

Tony Parella Acquires Controlling Stake in Trans Am Series Ownership Group

MIAMI, Fla.  [August 8, 2017] — The Trans Am Race Company, LLC (TARC) has announced Tony Parella, by way of Parella Motorsports Holdings, has acquired controlling interest in the TARC ownership group.  Parella reached an agreement to purchase the stake previously held by Mike Miller, who departs the ownership group that presents the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli.  

Through his additional investment, Parella now controls the majority of TARC shares while David Jans, John Clagett and Simon Gregg retain minority ownership stakes.  Parella joined the ownership group in late July of 2016 and in June of this year acquired, along with Mike Miller and David Jans, the shares held by Jim Derhaag.   

“Since joining the ownership group last year Tony has consistently expressed a desire to take Trans Am to the next level,” said John Clagett, President of The Trans Am Race Company.  “Tony’s enthusiasm and love for our sport is unquestionable, and I look forward to working with him as we continue to build the Trans Am brand and competition platform to improve on the progress we’ve made since the creation of The Trans Am Race Company in 2012.”

Dylan Murray wins 22nd Gorsline Scholarship at Sebring

SEBRING, Fla. (March 17, 2016) - Dylan Murry, of Cumming, Ga., was presented the 22nd Gorsline Scholarship by John Gorsline today at the 64th annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring fueled by Fresh From Florida.

With this scholarship, Murry, 15, will work with Dr. Jacques Dallaire, Director of Performance Prime, on an individually-designed performance-enhancement program, and will benefit from a unique training program at Jim Leo’s PitFit Training – all courtesy of Gorsline Company.

The Gorsline Scholarship is presented by Gorsline Company, of Rochester, N.Y., the leader in high-risk motorsports insurance. It recognizes aspiring drivers by offering programs with tools that will assist them in developing skills on and off the track to help attain their professional goals.

Two other young drivers were also considered for the Scholarship: Skylar Robinson, 19, of Augusta, Ga., and Kenton Koch, 21, of Glendora, Calif.

“At such a young age, Murry is already an accomplished racer,” said Gorsline, principal of Gorsline Company. “All three of the candidates for the 22nd Gorsline Scholarship are worthy recipients. It was a tough decision, but we selected Dylan. We’re confident he’ll benefit from the performance-enhancement and fitness training programs that Dallaire and Leo will provide as he progresses in his racing career.”

Three Candidates Named to receive 22nd Gorsline Scholarship in Sebring

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 9, 2016) – RIS -  Three of auto racing’s rising stars are candidates for the 22nd Gorsline Scholarship in 2015. The recipient will be named on Thursday, March 17, at Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway, prior to the running of the 64th annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring fueled by "Fresh from Florida," on March 19.

The Gorsline Scholarship is presented by Gorsline Company of Rochester, N.Y., the leader in creating protection strategies for high-risk professionals. It recognizes aspiring drivers and offers a program that provides tools to assist these drivers in developing skills on and off the track to attain their professional goals. SCOTT PRUETT RECEIVES RRDC’S 2016 PHIL HILL AWARD
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 28, 2016) – Scott Pruett, known as a savvy and disciplined racer with a record 60 victories in IMSA competition, was honored by the Road Racing Drivers Club with the 2016 Phil Hill Award. RRDC president Bobby Rahal made the presentation at a dinner  on Jan. 27 prior to the running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the season opener of the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The Phil Hill Award has been presented annually since 1993 to the person who the RRDC feels has rendered outstanding service to road racing. The recipient may be a driver, entrant or outstanding member of a sanctioning body.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway to host SCCA Runoffs in 2017

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 14, 2015 - The Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Sports Car Club of America announced today that the IMS road course will be the site of the 2017 SCCA National Championship Runoffs, with race days Sept. 29-Oct. 1.

The event is unprecedented for both the Club and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, pitting the amateur National Championship event on the 14 turn, 2.439-mile road course that hosts the Verizon IndyCar Series' Angie's List Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

"Many Indianapolis 500 veterans have their racing roots in SCCA competition, so hosting the SCCA national championships at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a natural fit," IMS President J. Douglas Boles said. "The Runoffs will provide drivers who have dreamed of competing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway an opportunity to do so and will hopefully motivate some participants to continue on the path to compete in the Indianapolis 500 someday. Barbosa and Fittipaldi Take Victory at Indianapolis

In near-perfect weather, Joao Barbosa and former Indy car driver Christian Fittipaldi drove a near-perfect race to win the TUDOR United SportCar Championship’s Brickyard Grand Prix on the 2.439-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.

The two Portugese-speaking drivers (one from Portugal, one from Brazil) launched forward in the #5 Corvette Daytona Prototype, passing the pole-sitting HPD ARX-03b of Scott Sharp and Ryan Dalziel at the seventh corner of Lap 1, and didn’t look back.

“It was definitely and awesome race for us,” said Fittipaldi, who was rookie of the year here in Indianapolis for the 1995 Indy 500. “All the stars aligned. Hat’s off to the team.”

“I kept asking ‘Are we going to need fuel?’, and the team just said, ‘Keep doing what you’re doing.’” Barbosa said of the closing laps.

The win puts the #5 team first in the Prototype championship.

TUDOR USCC Brickyard Grand Prix Qualifying Results

Welcome to the third running of the NASCAR Super Weekend at the famed 2.5-mile oval of the 105-year old Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The stock cars of the Nationwide and Sprint Cup series practice and compete Friday through Sunday, but first, the sports cars.

Under perfect, sunny weather, the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship arrived at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway - the first time the unified sports car championship has ever competed at the Brickyard.

The Grand-American series had competed here the last two years with the NASCAR Super Weekend (sports cars, Nationwide, and Sprint Cup), but this is the first time many of the former American Le Mans Series teams have been on the IMS 2.439-mile infield road course.

In the day's first practice session, the #1 HPD ARX-03b prototype of Scott Sharp and Ryan Dalziel was quickest at 1:18.349 sec. (112.068 mph).

VINTAGE RACING AT IMS Over 700 Race Cars to Compete at the Speedway in June

INDIANAPOLIS - RIS - MARCH 11, 2014 - June 6-8, 2014 will be historic dates for all race fans. The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) will host what is certain to be the largest gathering of track ready race cars in one place at one time, in history.

The SVRA’s Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational at Indianapolis will feature well over 600 race cars on the F-1 track at IMS, as well as over 150 open wheel oval track race cars on the big oval. The cars, dating from the 1920’s to 1999 will be raced in at least 21 groups with on track action from 8 AM until 6 PM each day.

Paraplegic Driver Mike Bauer Tests Corvette at High Plains Raceway

Injured in a motorcycle accident in 2003, Florida resident Mike Bauer is now a paraplegic but that hasn't dampened his passion for motorsports. Under the watchful eye of neurosurgeon Dr. Scott Falci from Craig Hospital in Denver, Bauer this week took to the track at nearby High Plains Raceway, testing a specially modified 450 hp C5 Chevrolet Corvette.

Grand-Am - Indianapolis Rolex Race Results

INDIANAPOLIS -RIS- Leading in the last ten minutes, former Formula 1 and IndyCar driver Rubens Barrichello had to pit the #77 Doran Daytona prototype for fuel, handing the lead and eventual victory in the second running of the Brickyard Grand Prix to Ryan Dalziel in the #2 Starworks BMW/Riley.

It was Dalziel's first win of the season, fifth of his career.

The Starworks Motorsports team now leads 2013 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series points championship.

Indianapolis Grand-Am Qualifying

Jordan Taylor drove Indianapolis-based Wayne Taylor Racing to the Daytona Prototype pole Thursday, July 25 for the Brickyard Grand Prix GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series race.

Taylor, from Apopka, Fla., turned an event-record lap of 1:22.251 in the No. 10 Velocity Worldwide/Toshiba/Chevrolet Corvette DP owned by his father, Wayne Taylor. It was the third consecutive DP pole this season for Taylor, 22, who will share the car in the race Friday with veteran Max Angelelli.

"When you think of motorsports, you think of Indy, Daytona, Sebring and all of the big names," Jordan Taylor said. "To get the pole is awesome."

Dalziel and Popow Take Grand-Am Win at Brickyard

It was a full day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The day started with the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup teams practicing on the famed 2.5-mile IMS oval for tomorrow’s running of the Indiana 250 and Brickyard 400.

Then the IMS facilities crew got to work and changed-over the oval to the 2.534-mile road course configuration. What had taken 18 days thirteen years ago when Formula 1 was running at Indy now took less than an hour.

The Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge teams ran in the early afternoon, and the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series took the facility to dusk - over nine hours of on-track activity.
