DAYTONA BEACH, FL – RIS – Justin Haley nipped teammate A.J. Almendinger o the final lap to win the NASCAR Xfinity race at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday afternoon.  The race was scheduled to be held on Friday night, but rain prevented any racing at after Lap 19.  The race was the first of two races at the 2.2-kmile speedway on Saturday.  The NASCAR Cup cars will race at 7:00 PM Saturday night.  Haley’s team, Kaulig Racing has won six of the last eight speedway races.

In a race dominated by Kaulig, the three drives were three-wide as they crossed the finish line.

“What an incredible day,” Haley said after the race. “This season has been so hard.”

Allmendinger finished second for Kaulig Racing. He was followed by Justin Allgaier, Kaulig Racing’s Jeb Burton and Daniel Hemric.

“As much as I wanted to win, that was pretty freaking cool,” Allmendinger said about the finish. Allmendinger also took over the points lead from Austin Cindric with the finish.

The extent that the Kaulig teams dominated the race was awe-inspiring.  Haley won the first staged and Burton the second stage.  Austin Cindric came into the race with a 35-point advantage over Allmendinger.  Cindric was eliminated after a push from Myatt Snider sent him into the wall, ending his race a few laps after the race resumed on Saturday.

The Xfinity cars next head to Darlington Raceway in Darlington, SC, on Saturday, September 4th to try to tackle the difficult speedway and prepare for the playoffs, which are nly four races away.
