Sheldon Creed Dominates the First Truck Playoff Race at Gateway

MADISON, IL – RIS - Defending Camping World Truck series champion Sheldon won the playoff NASCAR Camping World truck series at WWT Raceway on Friday night in dominating fashion.  Creed won the first two stages and toped it off with a victory as he took the checkers at the end of the race.  He took the lead on Lap 3 and never looked back. It took him only 20 seconds to advance that lead to two seconds.

Many playoff drivers trying to unseat Creed had rough nights.  Joh Hunter Nemechek, the pre-race points leader and favorite to win the championship, He lost power during the first stage and was involved in the multi-truck dust-up in Stage 2.

The track suffered a power outage at about Lap 65.  The trucks had to stop and go to pit road because the lights went out and darkened the track.  NASCAR scoring was also unable to determine who was in what position.  The outage lasted about an hour.

Once underway, Creed couldn’t be run down by Ben Rhodes and Matt Crafton, who finished in the top ten.  Also finishing in the top ten was Hailie Deegan, in 7th place.  She is only one of four women who have finished in the series since it was created.

Story will be updated.
