Ryan Preece Wins in His Maiden Voyage in Nashville Truck Race

Andrew Nelles/Nashville Tennesseean.com

NASHVILLE, TN – RIS – It was Ryan Peerce’s first truck race, but it did not matter at all.  He stormed through half the field to pass every truck ahead of him in the final stage to win the Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway.  Preece was driving a truck from the Gilliland stable.  The two Fords were so good on this night that teammate Todd Gilliland finished second.

Preece, the Cup Series regular in the top Series battled with Grant Enfinger and Gilliland over the final 55 laps.

Gilliland would take second away from Enfinger over the final few laps but couldn't overcome the second that Preece put between himself and the other two.  After a great showing in the first two stages and winning the first Truck Series pole in his career, polesitter Derek Kraus' night came to a heartbreaking end. With 40 laps to go, Kraus was running in the top-10 when he made contact with Josh Berry. Kraus' front right tire went down sending him hard into the wall. Kraus walked away from the wreck with some assistance from the medical crew.

Two stars of the truck series had mishaps on the night.  William Byron's night finished on lap 77 as he blew his engine and had to be pushed off of the track.

After running in the top-10 for most of the night, veteran Johnny Sauter was spun around by Tanner Gray on lap 103.  William Byron's night finished on lap 77 as he blew his engine and had to be pushed off of the track.
