Chase Briscoe Wins at Bristol With Momentum for the Xfinity Playoffs

BRISTOL, TN – RIS – Chase Briscoe won at Bristol Motor Speedway for his seventh win of the season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.  Briscoe passed leader Austin Cindric with six laps to go and held on for the win.  Ross Chastain finished second and Cindric faded to third.  Ross Chastain, Justin Allgaier, Anthony Alfredo, Noah Gragson, Brandon Jones, Jeb Burton and Riley Herbst rounded out the top 10 in order.

“I was worried. Our car was really good on the long run, I couldn’t get going, those guys were so far ahead,” Briscoe said.

“The last 15 laps our car came to life, I figured something out. We had to root and gouge our way up there, that’s what Bristol is all about.

“If we could end up second in points and win the race, we’d have the same amount of playoff points as (Cindric).”  It worked out just like that.

Cindric had already locked up the No. 1 seed in the series playoffs and Briscoe will start as the second seed when the playoffs open next weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

“I lost power steering with 30 laps to go and I’m not sure I’ve ever been in that much pain in my life,” Cindric said. “But that’s the way it goes. We should’ve won the race tonight.”

Allgaier swept the stages from the pole position, winning Stage 1 on Lap 85 and Stage 2 on Lap 170. He led a race-high 127 laps of the 300-lap event.

Seven drivers entered the regular-season finale with a victory to their name, already securing a spot in the 12-person postseason field. Briscoe led the way with then-six wins. Cindric boasted five. Allgaier and Jones owned three apiece, while Gragson, Justin Haley (who finished 16th at Bristol) and Burton had two each.

Joining the top three tonight in the Playoffs were Allgaier, Brandon Jones, Noah Gragson, Harrison Burton, Justin Haley, Chastain, Michael Annett, Riley Herbst, Ryan Sieg and Brandon Brown.

Bristol races are always entertaining.  There were wrecks and nudges to move a driver out of the way, and that would include Briscoe’s nudge of Cindric’s car to take the lead on Lap 294 (of 300).

The Xfinity drivers next head for Las Vegas for the first race of the 2020 Xfinity Series playoffs.  Cindric, being the regular season champion will be seeded first, followed by Briscoe.
