BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA – RIS – Just like he did at Bristol Motor Speedway, Brett Moffit started up front and went on to win the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series at  THE Canadian Tire Motorsports Park with a convincing and late-race domination.  It was his second consecutive win in the truck series, and fourth for his career. He won the final two playoff races last year, including the title race at Miami, and has opened this year’s playoffs with wins at Bristol and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Sunday’s victory also is Moffitt’s 11th career triumph in the series.

Moffitt, who also won Stage 1, led 44 of the 64 laps and took the checkered flag by 5.2 seconds over Alex Tagliani. He has won four straight playoff races dating back to his two victories last season that included the Championship 4 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Alex Tagliani was second and followed by Ben Rhodes, Sheldon Creed and Austin Hill.  Since this was the next-to-last race in the first round of the truck series playoffs, Taylor Ankrum, and  former champion Johnny Sauter find themselves short of gaining a playoff spot.

“I’d say we are hitting our stride at the right time,” said Moffitt. “Before it was like we were missing a little bit everywhere and now we’re hitting on all cylinders. So this is great.”

During his celebration burnout Moffitt’s truck ran out of fuel and had to be pushed to Victory Lane.

“It was close, anytime I would take a right hand corner the last two laps it started dropping in fuel pressure,” Moffitt said. “I was extremely worried but once we got to the last lap on the backstretch I knew we would have enough momentum to get to the finish line.”

“It was a good points day for us,” Hill said. “If we were going to win we would have had to short pit and we wanted to go for stage points. All in all to come home with a top five that’s what we needed to do.”

Johnny Sauter, Stewart Friesen, Ross Chastain, Tyler Ankrum and Rafael Lessard completed the first 10 finishers.

The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series returns to action on Friday night, September 13 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It will be the last race of the first playoff round with Sauter and Ankrum currently the two drivers outside the cutline.
