TALLADEGA, AL - RIS - The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race will resume on Monday, October 14th after rain showers wet the massive track.  Forecasts tended to predict more rain, so the race will resume on NBCSN at 2:00 EDT. The field was able to complete the opening stage of the 1000bulbs.com 500 Sunday at the 2.666-mile track — NASCAR's largest — before rain hit the area. NASCAR threw the red flag shortly before 3 p.m. ET and directed cars down pit road on lap 57. Talladega does not have lights, so racing at night was not an option.

William Byron won that first stage with a push from his Hendrick Motorsports teammates.  Team Penkse's Joey Logano took second, followed by Bowman, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Brad Keselowski. Last week's winner Kyle Larson came home sixth, and Johnson, Daniel Suarez, Kurt Busch and Ryan Blaney rounded out the top 10.
