Kyle Busch Outlasts Field in Indiana 250 Xfinity Win

SPEEDWAY, IN - RIS - Pole winner Kyle Busch ran his #18 Combs Toyota up front all afternoon, avoided a late-wreck race by the current race leaders and then held off Justin Allgaier's hard charging #7 Suave Men Chevrolet over the last few laps.

Kyle was consistently in the top 5 all race, leading 46 of the 80 laps.   On lap 94 with Kyle in third, race and series leaders Tyler Reddick and Christopher Bell got together in Turn 2, enabling Kyle to retake the lead for the final time on the Lap 97 restart.  Kyle described the action over the last 4 laps, "We were really fast on the straightaways, had good straightway speed and were still pretty good in Turns 3 and 4.  The 7 (Allgaier) behind me was definitely beating me in Turns 1 and 2.  We weren't very good in Turn 1 all day.  The run he got from the package just wasn't enough; he couldn't do anything with it.  He never got close enough to make a move out.  If there were 2 more laps, he would have closed in on me and perhaps been able to make a move.  He didn't have anyone behind him to push him and be able to make a move.  The way the race played out, it played into our hands.  If it had been different, it could easily have been in the 7 car's hands."

Within the Xfinity series, Kyle earned his 4th victory this year, his 4th victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, his 37th win from the pole and his series record 96th win.

Finishing 2nd, Justin Allgaier pushed his #7 Suave Men Chevrolet to the limit over the last few laps.  Allgaier said, "We were really good on long runs and we just could not catch the 18 on the last short run.  We had watched Kyle all day and knew where we could beat him, we just didn't have enough time."  Allgaier earned the Mobil 1 Driver of the Race award.  The top finishing rookie, Noah Gragson, finished third in the #9 Switch Chevrolet, followed by Jeb Burton (#8 State Water Heaters Chevrolet) and Justin Haley (#11 LeafFilter Chevrolet).

Xfinity series leaders Tyler Reddick and Christopher Bell finished 29th and 30th after their accident on Lap 94 when they were racing for the lead.  Between them, they led 17 laps and were definitely in the mix for the win.

Today's race feature 14 lead changes among 7 drivers (Ky. Busch, C. Bell, B. Jones, N. Gragson, J. Allgaier, T. Reddick, J. Williams).  There were 8 cautions for 31 laps during the 2 hour, 11 minute and 21 seconds Indiana 250 race.  The average speed was 114.199 MPH and the margin of victory was 0.132 seconds.

The next Xfinity series race will be on September 14, 2019 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Kyle's recommendation for tomorrow's Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard Powered by Florida Georgia Line is "Tune in and watch!".  Tomorrow's race is scheduled to start at 2:30 pm after qualifying runs from 10:35-11-20 am and pre-race activities which start at 12:30 pm.
