Denny Hamlin Ends Practice with Fiery Crash

SPEEDWAY, IN -

Toward the end of Saturday afternoon's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup series practice, Denny Hamlin's car hit the outside wall of Turn 4 trailing fire underneath the car and smoke billowing throughout the car.  Denny made a quick escape and took a trip to the infield medical center for evaluation.  His FedEx Express Toyota team is already unpacking his backup car.

All the rest of the drivers passed by Denny, giving him and receiving a thumbs up to ensure he was okay.

Hamlin said, "We blew a right front tire, definitely got my attention, in short chute, and totally unexpected.  Our backup car is good and we'll just have to come from the back ... again."  Before the crash, Hamlin was the 15th fastest in practice in preparation for tomorrow's qualification session and Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard race.
