RICHMOND, VA – RIS – Kevin Harvick won the pole for tonight’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway.  Harvick’s best lap was 121.880 mph and good enough for the pole.  Denny Hamlin with start second with Martin Truex, Jr., Ryan Blaney, and Daniel Suarez rounding out the top five.  It was Harvick’s third pole lo the year.

Playoff drivers made up most of the top ten with only Daniel Suarez being the only non-qualifier for the championship.  Some playoff drivers had a rough go on Friday.  Joey Logano (13th), Alex Bowman (14th), Chase Elliott (19th), Jimmie Johnson (22nd), Clint Bowyer (25th), and Austin Dillon (28th) had less than stellar qualifying success.  The starting lineup is below.  Keep in mind that inspection before the race might change this lineup.
