Toyota NCWTS Post Race Notes 9-14-2018

TOYOTA QUOTES
> BRETT MOFFITT, No. 16 TZ Toyota Tundra, Hattori Racing
> Finishing Position: 11th
> What happened in the final restart?
> “I ran out of fuel. We didn’t have enough under caution. I was trying to swerve back and forth to keep the pick-up box full.
>
> Did you have any concerns about fuel prior to that?
> “No. We were supposed to be a few laps to the good. It shouldn’t have been an issue. It’s a bummer when I’m 100 yards from the start-finish line and I see them somewhat throw the white and they throw the caution. Then we have that happen to us. It is what it is.”
>
> NOAH GRAGSON, No. 18 Safelite AutoGlass Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports
> Finishing Position: 18th
> How will you rebound for the final Playoff race of this round in Talladega?
> “Just have to move on and points race at Talladega to try to get the best race possible there.”
>
> What happened in the race that caused damage to the left front of your truck?
> “I just got used up by the 16 (Brett Moffitt) and cut a left front tire down, got two laps down and could never get them back. Felt like we were out of contention and just threw away another one.”
>
> How strong was your Tundra prior to the contact?
> “It was really strong. Just taking my time and working my way up. Started getting really loose and slid up like three grooves and then had the contact with the left front on exit. It was like I wasn’t even there, but we’ll race them the way they raced us and won’t give anything.”
>
> BRANDON JONES, No. 51 Delta Faucet/Menards Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports
> Finishing Position: 26th
> What happened that ended your race tonight?
> “Kind of got pretty far back there – in the second stage we started to lose some track position there and some people were really side drafting hard and pulling us back so we got buried a little bit in traffic. (Mike) Hillman (crew chief) made the right calls and we pitted on two tires and I know sometimes two tires can lose some races, but that got us our track position where we needed to be and kind of got our nose back in clean air. Going down the backstretch I saw the fuel pressure off a little there and we decided to come down there and make sure nothing was getting destroyed there with the motor. Hate it, really wanted to run well with these guys and really enjoyed my five races with KBM (Kyle Busch Motorsports) that we had and hopefully look forward to more in the future with them.”
>
> TODD GILLILAND, No. 4 JBL/SiriusXM Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports
> Finishing Position: 27th
> What happened in the accident that ended your race tonight?
> “I was trying to get a little bit of a side draft off the 52 (Stewart Freisen) and I had a really good run on him. I was trying to pull him off of turn four to get some momentum getting into turn one and the 97 (Jesse Little) was just right there at my bumper cover and I just kind of went up and hooked myself into the wall. Nonetheless, I’m still really proud of this JBL Toyota Tundra that we brought to the race track. I felt like we could really race around other trucks like I haven’t been able to before. We’re learning every week and that’s what it’s all about. Tough to have a couple weeks off now, but we have to stay in the game and stay focused on business.”
