INDIANAPOLIS - RIS - May 28, 2017 - Before the race today we had a surprise visit in the Media Center from Dale Coyne driver Sebastian Bourdias, who just one week ago had a massive crash in his qualifying attempt for this year’s 500 mile race.

“I feel good as long as I am on the pain pills. I kinda wish I lost conciseness because the crash hurt. After I stopped tumbling and came to a stop the guys (the Holmatro Safety Team) came up and asked if I was alright. I said this was going to hurt.”

The car did suffer significant side impact damage that penetrated the cockpit.

The doctors told me, “The surgery was pretty simple, cracks and bits.” Bourdias will not need more surgery according to his team of doctors.

Asked about the cause of the incident he said, “Lot of little factors, a baby lift in to the turn, maybe. We were working on that, and maybe my stubbornness. I did hit the wall with full throttle.”

It was really nice seeing him, even on the two crutches he needs to get around. The crash easily could have been so much worst.
