Scott Dixon Wins 101st Indy 500 Pole - STARTING GRID
INDIANAPOLIS -RIS- (May 21, 2017) In near-perfect weather conditions, and in front of a modest, but enthusiastic crowd of Indy 500 qualifying fans, Scott Dixon held off a late charge by Ed Carpenter to win the Verizon IndyCar Series' pole position for next Sunday's running of the Indianapolis 500, 101st Edition.
Strong performances by Alexander Rossi, Takuma Sato, and Formula 1's Fernando Alonso were eclipsed by Dixon's pole run, which brought cheers from the grandstands. And despite a bonzai run by two-time Indy polesitter, Carpenter, the popular New Zealander won his third career Indy pole.
