[Track press release] CONCORD, N.C. (July 7, 2016) – The Bojangles’ Summer Shootout is no stranger to bumper-banging action among Legend Cars and Bandoleros, but the racing extravaganza set for July 12 at Charlotte Motor Speedway will see the wreckers that normally clean up messes make some of their own in an exciting new showcase of tow truck tenacity on the frontstretch quarter-mile.

  • A battle of wreckers will take center stage in a tow truck exhibition on the frontstretch quarter-mile at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Tuesday, July 12, as the sixth round of the Bojangles’ Summer Shootout rocks The Greatest Place to See the Race
  • Kids 13 and under get in FREE to the family-friendly Bojangles’ Summer Shootout while tickets cost just $8 for adults. Fans can purchase tickets by visiting charlottemotorspeedway.com or call the speedway at 1-800-455-FANS (3267).

Presented by AAA Carolinas’ Disconnect and Drive campaign – which encourages drivers to avoid distracted driving – the tow truck takeover will see two-man teams of single-cab wreckers race one-on-one using each frontstretch and backstretch lane of the quarter-mile. Participants scheduled to take part include Kannapolis-based LeBleu Towing and Gatton’s Towing, as well as Concord-based ABC Towing and Creason Towing in Charlotte.

The teams will start from Turns 1 and 2 and race to Turns 4 and 3 by hooking up a car using the wheel lift, securing the car using straps and racing to the finish line. One wrecker will race from Turn 1 to Turn 4 as its counterpart travels from Turn 2 to Turn 3 in a battle to see who can advance through three rounds of elimination.

The fastest team with properly secured vehicles wins what is sure to be an all-out battle of big trucks.

In addition to the rocking slugfest of wreckers, the sixth round of Legend Car and Bandolero action will make up a thrilling night of racing that passes the halfway point of the 10-night Bojangles’ Summer Shootout, the world’s premier grassroots racing attraction.

Along with the world-class racing that comes with every night of Bojangles’ Summer Shootout races, fans can document all their experiences using the hashtag #LetsBoRacing on social media.
