Angelle Returns To Racing

Team Press Release: (CONCORD, NC – SEPT 13, 2014) Angelle Sampey-Drago is returning to NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle racing again, teaming with George and Jackie Bryce of Star Racing. Sampey-Drago, the three-time NHRA world champion, will once again thrill NHRA crowds with her personality and impressive resume with her sights set on becoming the all-time winningest NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle racer and becoming a four-time champion.

“We have been working on bringing back Angelle for a few months now,” said a jubilant George Bryce. “Next year is our 35th anniversary at Star Racing, and we thought what better way to celebrate than having the winningest female racer in NHRA history to keep the Star Racing legacy alive. We were going to wait to announce this, but in light of recent events, we thought there was never a better time.”

Sampey-Drago has amassed 41 NHRA event wins and wants to go after Dave Schultz’s record of 45. Sampey-Drago, whose 45 top qualifier awards is the most in class history, felt like she is at a great place in her life to come back and challenge for goals that she believes she can achieve.

Angelle Sampey-Drago recently tested with the Star Racing team, riding the Buell currently campaigned by Chaz Kennedy.

“We had a great test this week at South Georgia Motorsports Park,” said Sampey-Drago. “I was definitely nervous the first run, but I kept getting more comfortable each run. My life is in order with a great family, and I have been missing my racing family. The fans were so good to me when I was at Houston earlier this year, and to be honest, I still have that burning desire to win.”

“Angelle and her Star Racing S&S-powered Buell will be back before the end of the season,” added Bryce. “We are not sure if it will be Dallas or St. Louis, but you will see Angelle this season, and we will make an all-out assault for the championship in 2015 with both Angelle and Chaz Kennedy.”

Star Racing has won six NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle championships and 80 Wallys since beginning to travel the NHRA circuit. The Bryce name has been one that has become a powerhouse with their Star Racing brand, and they feel the future looks bright for many years to come.

“It is an honor to be back with George and Jackie,” said Sampey-Drago. “They took a chance with a rookie in 1996, and we had some great years together. The time is right to come back and bring back our Star power. I am truly blessed for my life and this amazing opportunity. We have a few things we are working on for marketing partners that are very exciting. I can’t wait to spend time with my fans at the races and help bring Star Racing back to the winner’s circle.”
