THE AMA PRO SACRAMENTO MILE PROMISES AN INCREDIBLE EVENING OF SPECTACULAR RACING

Sacramento, Calif…The competition will rank second to none on Saturday, July 27th at Cal Expo when the AMA Pro Sacramento Mile, presented by Miller Lite and brought to you by Greg Padilla Bail Bonds and SDI Insulation, roars into action.  Round 5 of this year’s AMA Pro Flat Track, this spectacular race will definitely dazzle fans as the world’s top flat track racers explode off the startline in an intense battle for the checkered flag.

Filled with determination, sharpshooters like Bryan Smith, Jared Mees, Jake Johnson, Kenny Coolbeth, Jr., Henry Wiles, Sammy Halbert, Brad Baker, Briar Bauman, Mike Rush and numerous others are all aiming to take the coveted Sacramento Mile win.

Sacramento is one of the longest running races on the AMA Pro Flat Track circuit.  Debuting in 1959, this popular event ran through 1970 when the old fairgrounds closed. It returned in 1978.  In 2000 AMA Pro racing took another hiatus returning in 2011 much to the delight of Northern California fans.

Not only will this race pit rider against rider, but it will also pit machine against machine. Back in the 1950’s Harley-Davidson battled BSA, Triumph and Indian.  Today, eligible bikes include Aprilia, BMW, Harley-Davidson, Buell, Ducati, Honda, KTM, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha.

With four races complete, the points are tightening up.  Running in first with 77 points is Brad Baker. Hailing from Dryad, Wash, Baker won the AMA Pro Singles Championship in 2010 and earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2011.  So far this season he has taken three second place finishes and a win at Hagerstown.  Baker wants to extend his lead, but the rest of the field doesn’t want to see that happen.  Tied for third with 57 points each are Brandon Robinson from Warren, Pa., Henry Wiles of Winn, Mich., and Jake Johnson who hails from Coatesville, Pa. Sitting in fifth place is Kenny Coolbeth Jr., of Warren, Conn., with 47 points.

Also looking to make history are a number of riders from Northern California who would like nothing more than to bring home a win in front of all their family and friends. Leading the charge is Mike Rush from Hollister, who took a win this year at Daytona.  Steve Bonsey and 2012 Rookie of the Year Briar Bauman who both hail from Salinas, are ready to do battle as is Mikey Martin from Lodi.

However, two-time Sacramento Mile winner Bryan Smith has a different scenario.  He plans to make this race his third-in-a-row and he doesn’t plan to let anyone get in his way.  But there are a lot of other riders who have the same plan.

When the action gets underway on July 27th, it will be tough field – one of the toughest that Sacramento fans have ever seen.  Spectators will definitely thrill to the fast paced action as AMA flat track stars go for the glory at this year’s AMA Pro Sacramento Mile presented by Miller Lite and SDI Insulation and brought to you by Greg Padilla Bail Bonds.  This is indeed a race you won’t want to miss.
